Cardiac Rehabilitation

Havasu Regional Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation consists of:

  • Medical Doctor
  • Registered Nurses

Cardiac Rehabilitation makes a big difference in the quality of life that patients recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery, angioplasty and/or angina are able to achieve. It takes more than surgery to achieve real heart health — it involves a change of heart about lifestyle choices. The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Havasu Regional Medical Center emphasizes exercise, education, counseling and behavioral modifications as patients are given the tools they need to make heart health a lifelong goal. The Cardiac Rehab team guides each patient in an effort to build not only heart health but a lifetime commitment to the process.

The Program

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation

A medically supervised, outpatient program that lasts between 4 to 12 weeks (12 to 36 sessions) and begins shortly after discharge from the hospital after a cardiac event. Patients will exercise 3 days per week for about an hour each session. In addition, patients will also attend weekly education classes lasting approximately 1 hour.

Medicare and most private insurance carriers cover Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation with the following diagnoses: Heart attack; Bypass surgery; Stent placement; Chronic Chest Pain; Heart valve surgery; and Heart transplant within the last year. A physician referral is required for a patient to participate in the program.

Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation:

After completing Phase II, patients are encouraged to enroll in the Phase III program in order to maintain their healthy lifestyle. There is a minimal monthly fee for this program that is covered by the participant. Even if you haven’t completed the Phase II program, you are eligible for Phase III. Please contact the Cardiac Rehab staff if you have questions.
